Steve Vai recuerda un gran detalle de Les Paul cuando tocaron juntos

Steve Vai publicó en su cuenta de Instagram una foto con el mismísimo Lester William Polsfuss, pionero del modelo de las guitarras Les Paul que hoy en día es conocido por todo el mundo.

El guitarrista estadounidense aseguró que es un honor haber compartido escenario con el gran Les Paul en varias ocasiones: «Él seguía muy vivo incluso cuando tenía 90 años».

La primera vez que tocaron juntos le pidió una firma a su guitarra Ibanez Evo, pero se despintó porque no le puso ningún tipo de protección. La segunda vez que hicieron un concierto, le pidió nuevamente que lo firme. Aunque Vai le puso protección esta vez, despareció la firma.

«Él tenía un gran sentido del humor y me contó unas historias muy gracias de su carrera como músico. Era como el Papa que reunía a gente para dar un sermón», opinó Vai de su colega.

Hey Folks, I’ve had the honor of performing with the great Les Paul on several occasions. He was always spot on, very much alive and with it, even at 90! The first time I performed with him, I asked him to sign Evo and he was kind enough to do it. But I made the mistake of not putting any kind of protection over his signature, and it faded out. But I got him to sign Evo again the next time I played with him, and again he was kind enough to oblige. This time I covered the signature with some kind of seal, but through the years, it faded again. So I may own the only guitar that Les Paul signed twice, that doesn’t have his signature on it anymore. But he sure had a great sense of humor, and would tell us these funny stories about his youth and career as we all gathered around him as if the Pope was giving mass.
