Marzi Montazeri pulls back the strings of one of his Washburn signature guitars to show his family emblem emblazoned on the neck, in a storage space where he keeps his instruments in Houston, Tuesday, June 11, 2019.
Montazeri is one of the best-known guitar shredders in the world, a player who mixes metal dexterity with a soulful introspection foreign to a lot of speedy guitarists. Recently he worked in the band run by Phil Anselmo of Pantera, but then moved on to work with the beloved metal band Exhorder and also spending more time with Heavy as Texas, his own group.
